My Hair Care Routine

Today, we're going to be talking about my hair care routine and all of the products I use to make my hair as healthy as I can!

I have very curly hair and it is quite damaged and over-processed. It gets pretty dry and frizzy, and can get "floofy," as my boyfriend says. I have gotten it bleached many times and dyed over with box dye many times - just to get it bleached again a couple months later! *facepalm*

Right now, my hair is pink because I have always wanted to do something crazy and fun. Since I'm not currently working due to some health issues, I've decided now was a great time to get experimental.

I am not a hair expert, but these are the products that work for me!

PRODUCTS

I use the Macadamia Natural Oil line. I use the Rejuvenating Shampoo, Smoothing Conditioner, and the Deep Repair Masque. I love using these products when I'm washing my hair! They smell amazing and make my hair feel soft and moisturized. Like I said, my hair can get pretty frizzy. This smooths all of the frizz and makes my hair much more manageable. 

Macadamia Natural Oil Rejuvenating Shampoo

The Rejuvenating Shampoo is great for my colored hair, because it's free of sulfates and paraben-free. It comes with 33.8 oz of product and retails for $23.99 (USD) - however, I got mine from TJ Maxx for $14.99 (USD). Since the bottle is so big, I know that it will last me, so I don't mind the higher (than average) price tag. I used to use whatever shampoos and conditioners I could get from Target, everything from Herbal Essences to Garnier Fructis. After trying the Macadamia Natural Oil line, I don't think I can ever go back.

Macadamia Natural Oil Smoothing Conditioner

The Smoothing Conditioner makes for the perfect pair! It helps to moisturize and detangle, which I can appreciate with my hair type. It also claims to help with static, but I've never experienced a problem with that. This retails for $23.99 (USD) for 33.8 oz of product, but I bought this at TJ Maxx, too, for $14.99 (USD).

Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque

The last product I use from this line is the Deep Repair Masque. It comes in this cute little tub and has 16 oz of product, and retails for $22.99 (USD) - but TJ Maxx saved me some money again, so I got it for $19.99 (USD). This mask is the most hydrating mask I have ever put on my hair. I can see instant results and my hair feels so silky smooth. It claims to reconstruct and rebuild hair, and since I've been using this, I have seen a big difference in my hair health and strength.

Suave Kids Detangling Spray

This is a judgement-free zone. Yes, I still use this stuff as a 22-year-old adult. I get it in the scent Silly Apple. Why? Because it works - and it smells good. I really like this stuff because it helps detangle my hair on the days when I don't wash it. It's only $2.99 (USD) and comes with 10 oz of product. It works like magic for me and my hair. It helps prevent breakage so when I brush through my hair, I'm not ripping a ton out.

Camille Rose Ultimate Growth Serum

This is a new product that I've been testing out. It smells like heaven and feels very moisturizing on my head. It's supposed to stimulate your blocked hair follicles to promote hair growth, but I haven't seen those results just yet. I may do a follow up post in the future to compare my hair growth, but we will see. Regardless, it's a great serum for hydration and preventing breakage. This product retails for $15.99 (USD) and comes with 8 oz of product.

Giovanni 2Chic Repairing Super Potion Hair Oil Serum

I don't know what makes this a super potion, but I do know that I love this stuff! It's made specifically for damaged and over-processed hair like mine, and helps smooth and tame my frizz. This is another product that prevents breakage. You'll see that's a trend for a lot of my products because of the bleach in my hair. It's prone to breaking and I want to preserve these locks, so I opt for products that will help me achieve my hair goals. This product retails for $7.99 (USD) and has 4 fl oz of product.

OGX Nourishing Coconut Oil Mist & Argan Oil of Morocco Dry Oil

These oil mists are the key to the shine and healthy-look of my hair. As one of the final steps in my hair care routine, these make my hair shiny (in a good way) and smell great! I haven't really noticed a lot of other benefits to my hair other than making it glow, but I sure have repurchased both of these, time and time again. I just love the finishing touches it adds to my hair for the affordable price. They both retail for $6.74 (USD) and have 4 oz of product.

Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Leave-In Conditioning Cream

I will use this product if and when I am styling my hair. It's a great cream product that smooths my frizzy hair and makes for a great stay-all-day product. It contains citrus protien, Vitamins B3 and B6, and fruit and plant-derived extracts for sleek and healthy hair. It retails for $2.99 (USD) and contains 10.2 oz of product.

THE ROUTINE

I listed the products in the order I would use them, for convenience. 

I wash my hair about 1-2 times per week since dying it pink. I used to wash it 2-3 times, when it was blonde. When I wash my hair, I will use the shampoo and conditioner. I will use the deep repair masque only once a week. Since I have to let it sit in my for 7 minutes, I usually will pick a day on the weekend because I get to take my time and relax. 

All the other products I listed, I use every other day. I will get out of the shower and quickly towel dry my hair. I will spray the detangling spray all over my head, then brush my hair thoroughly. 

I start with the hair growth serum and I will apply the smallest bit to my fingertips. I will then massage the products into my scalp, and running the excess through the strands of my hair.

Then, I will take 2 pumps of my super potion serum and run that through the middle of my hair to the ends. I tend to avoid the roots because I have the other serum on. 

I will brush my hair again and spray a little bit of my OGX hair oils all around my head. This gives it the healthy shine, I had mentioned earlier. At this point, if I choose to style my hair, I will add some of the leave-in cream and style how I want.

I absolutely love my hair care routine. It took me a long time to find products that I love and would repurchase. I know it can add up in price when selecting hair care items, so I when I like something, I tend to stick with it. All of these products are worth it to me and I hope you guys are able to give them a try!
